All the labs will be run online. Lab registration will be enabled at 11am on Friday, Feb 19, the last Friday before teaching starts. This is because labs start in week 1 and the first labs will take place before the first lecture. However, do note that the labs in week 1 are for students who have no background in Python or Git. For those that are familiar with Python programming and the use of Git, they can start by attending labs in week 2. Labs details will be provided in due course. Links for each lab will be found here the week prior to the start of the lab. Each lab will have some home work tasks. Make sure that you do these tasks before you come to the lab. The knowledge required to carry out the tasks would have been covered in the lectures prior to the lab. The labs will be run online using Microsoft Teams. Teams is available for use for free through ANU, so please login with your ANU UID and Password. Please don’t forget to use Piazza to ask questions so that you can also engage with the tutors and students on campus, as we will miss you otherwise! If you don’t have access to Piazza, please let Ramesh know ASAP. For the labtest in week 4, you will be randomly given some questions to do in the lab within a specified time. The details will be made available later. All of the lab resources can be found at the following master repo: https://gitlab.cecs.anu.edu.au/comp2420/2021/comp2420-2021-labs There will be a directory here for each lab, named lab-1, lab-2, etc. You fill find the jupyter notebook and associated files for the labs in the corresponding directory. You will first need to fork the master repo. You should then clone this forked repository to create a local copy and work on this local copy. Push your changes to the fork regularly. We may look at your work on each lab to see how you are going. The master repo may be updated just prior to the start of each lab week. To update your fork to reflect changes to the master repository, you can use these instructions. There will be no sample solutions provided to the lab exercises.
