So, you have completed your assignment and are ready to submit. You think all the demanding work is behind you but, confronted by the dreaded submission portal and Turnitin, you feel stressed and confused once again. Don’t panic - it really is as easy as drag and drop! Where do I start? The submission link can be found on the module page and there will be either one link or two, depending on whether the module has multiple assignments. Click on the link and then the tab, ‘My Submissions’. Here you will need to give your submission a title and select the file you wish to upload (hint: it must be a single Word document or PDF). Alternatively, you can drag and drop the document from your desktop. Click to confirm that the work is your own and, once you are done, click to add the submission – your assignment has now been submitted! What happens next? Following that first submission, you will receive an originality report which can take up to 24 hours to generate. This can be rather nerve-racking and you might wonder what the correct percentage is. Obviously, the lower the percentage the better, but the most important thing is what’s highlighted. Are there huge chunks of writing flagged up? Have you missed out a reference or not included quotation marks when you should have? This is really what you should be looking for and this is a wonderful opportunity to check your work… and check again. You can submit your work as many times as you like before the deadline date, but please remember that it is the final upload that will be sent for marking. Student Support are only a phone call away should you have any questions or concerns. When will I hear back? Your work is now on its way to our Marking Team and you will receive your provisional grade within 20 working days of the submission deadline date. Now is the time to sit back and relax; watch that series on Netflix, get lost in Austen or start thinking about your next module. Whichever you choose, there is no need to worry, your assignment has been submitted and just like Doris Day said: ‘Que Sera, Sera. Whatever will be, will be’. And there we have your guide to submitting - hopefully not as scary as you thought! Like anything, the more times you do it, the easier it becomes. Whilst that first time might fill you with dread, progressing through your course will see you submit through Turnitin again and again. No longer something to fear but a sign that the hard work is finished and you are ready to submit.
