Research at LabSC is on the development of numerical algorithms and High Performance Computing (HPC) methods, and their application to solve complex, multi-physics, multi-scale problems arising in science or technology. The implementations of the algorithms take advantage of massively parallel computational architectures. Research at LabSC is guided and funded by government laboratories, UK Research Councils and industry (see: Working with industry). The group has more than 30 members including staff, PDRAs, PhDs, MPhils and long-term academic and industrial visitors, and it is based at the Maxwell Centre, part of the Department of Physics (Cavendish Laboratory).
