The license is issued by Access Canberra ACT Government and not CIT. This license will allow you to work on water heaters which are connected to a low voltage wiring installation. Note that Restricted License requirements for this category License do not apply to appliances supplied with electricity through a cord and plug. The requirements of AS/NZS 3760 (current) do not apply to this program. This program achieves units of competency from UEE11 Electrotechnology Training Package. Qualification: Statement of Attainment - training in Restricted Electrical Disconnect - Reconnect (Hot Water Appliances) [from UEE11] Program No: SA-TS26 Campus: CIT Fyshwick  Duration: You will be required to complete a workbook or an on-line component prior to class attendance. This comprises of approximately 22 hours. You will also attend workshop at CIT Fyshwick campus, approximately 11 hours (one full day and one evening per week for 3 weeks). Eligible applicants who can demonstrate sufficient knowledge and application of electrical principles may receive fast track training. Existing restricted electrical license holders; if your license was issued 5 years or more CIT may offer you targeted training under this program to enable you renew your license. Cost Info: Enrolment fees for this course are based on the costs per subject as indicated below. Subject costs identified as Full Fee receive no government subsidy. Concessions are not available. The fees below apply unless training as an apprentice or trainee. Indicative Cost: $1750 Likely Job Outcome: Gives qualified plumbers and gas fitters additional skills for work. Subject Information Complete 3 subjects Core: Complete all 3 UEENEEP014A   Disconnect - reconnect water heaters connected to low voltage installation wiring CIT Code: REFR251 Cost: Full fee $1,090.00 Description: This unit covers disconnecting and reconnecting water heaters connected to low voltage installation wiring. This may be incidental to or a primary and regular function of work related to a principle work function. It encompasses working safely, identifying supply arrangements, following isolation procedures, selecting and using testing and measuring devices, terminating and connecting cables and conductors, safely testing and reporting. The unit coverage excludes disconnecting or reconnecting circuits at a switchboard or to general electrical accessories (including switches, socket outlets, circuit protective devices etc.); or installation of or alteration to any part of the fixed electrical wiring system (defined as electrical installing work). Prerequisites: UEENEEE101A Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace UEENEEP019A   Locate and rectify faults in low voltage water heaters using set procedures CIT Code: REFR250 Cost: Full fee $440.00 Description: This unit covers locating and rectifying fault(s) in water heaters intended to operate to a connected supply up to 1,000 volts a.c. or 1,500 volts d.c. This may be incidental to or a primary and regular function in the workplace. It encompasses following prescribed procedures, working safely, reading circuit diagrams, isolation procedures, identifying faults according to procedures, identifying like for like replacement/repair components according to procedures, selecting and using testing and measuring devices, terminating and connecting cables and conductors, safety testing and reporting. Note: Limitations of this unit. This unit does not cover installations: a) Where high fault currents are possible, b) Comprised of complex electrical apparatus and circuits, c) Associated with fixed wiring other than disconnecting and reconnecting electrical appliance, circuits at a switchboard or to general electrical accessories (including switches, socket outlets, circuit protective devices etc.); or installation of or alteration to any part of the fixed electrical wiring system (defined as electrical installing work).listed in the Range Statement of the unit, d) In hazardous areas or on electrical appliance that is part of an explosion protection technique. It encompasses responsibilities for health and safety, risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
