Get it from the Coursework page. 1 October 2010: Second Edition of Objects First with Java? I've seen many students with a digital Second Edition of Objects First with Java. Be warned that among other changes, the Third Edition added some extremely important material on Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). You cannot complete the course with only the Second Edition of the book! 1 October 2010: Schedule updated. The revised course schedule is now online. Many of the suggested lab exercises linked from it refer only to the Fourth Edition of Objects First with Java; we're still updating them to include lists for the Third Edition. More details of the coursework and assignments will be published on Monday 4th October. 1 October 2010: PeerWise sign-up PeerWise sign-up codes have been emailed to everyone who's signed up to the course with the ITO. Note that there are 66% more people signed up to lab sessions than to the ITO course membership list. Please make sure that you're either on the ITO's list, or (if you're taking the course unofficially) that you've emailed your student ID to Massimo and Conrad. 1 October 2010: A note on preparation for lab sessions This week has been a relatively relaxed start to the course, since we know that many of you are still waiting for your copy of the book to arrive. However, those who have run the course in the past say that the course quickly becomes a lot more intense, and it's very easy to fall behind. So: from now on please, for your own benefit, prepare for each lab session (see the schedule) by either reading the relevant chapter of the book, or watching the online video, or both, before the lab session. Also, please attempt the suggested exercises before the lab session. This way, as soon as you arrive at the lab you can ask questions and get any problems you have solved. If you're ahead of the game you can then work on the assignment (which we'll publish on Monday), and ask any questions you want to about that 1 October 2010: Unofficial course attendees If you're attending the course unofficially in order to brush up on your OO skills, please email Conrad and Massimo so that we have you on our mailing list (include your student ID)! 27 September 2010: sign up to the course with the ITO! Please sign up to the course using the ITO course registration form now — there are 50% more students registered to the tutorials than with the ITO. If you don't register with the ITO you won't get any official emails, and all kinds of trouble may follow! 27 September 2010: schedule being updated. The course schedule is currently being updated; it contains links to the online course videos, and to suggested exercises for you to work on at home and in the labs. It will also contain notification of all course deadlines. 22 September 2010: choose your tutorial groups! Please choose your tutorial group on mysignup.com.
