The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Engineering Technology program is designed to
provide skills required of entry-level engineering technicians. Students are provided with the
fundamentals of physics, engineering, computer hardware, programming, engineering design
fundamentals, and computer software program usage. A solid foundation in mathematics, science, communication skills, humanities,
and social sciences provides a well-rounded curriculum.
The following program tracks are available at GCC:
1. Aerospace (Aeronautics) 8. Electrical Systems
2. Biomedical 9. Industrial Engineering
3. Chemical 10. Materials Science
4. Civil 11. Mechanical
5. Construction 12. Mechanical Systems
6. Computer System Engineering 13. Robotics
7. Electrical Engineering
Program Notes
 Students must earn a grade of C or better in all required courses.
 [+] indicates that course has prerequisite(s) and/or corequisite(s).
 [-any] indicates that any course and/or module may be selected.
 When selecting [-any] courses, students transferring to a university should consider taking courses that meet general education
awareness area requirements.

 The Recommended Course Sequence for this program track includes CHM courses as restricted elective course options. Many
engineering majors, including civil, require these CHM courses if the student transfers to a university. However, students may
substitute these recommended courses for other restricted elective course options.
 PHY111 and PHY112 are strongly recommended for students who have not completed one year of high school physics with a
grade of C or better.

 Students who want to enroll in eighteen (18) or more credits must obtain college approval.
 Students who want to reduce their academic load should consider taking general education courses during summer session.
 Students should apply for graduation when enrolling for final semester.
 For assistance with course selection, contact an Academic Advisor or the Program Director.

Restricted Electives
Students must complete sixteen (16) to twenty (20) credits of restricted electives. Courses used to meet other required areas may not
be used to satisfy this program requirement. Please note that some restricted electives may have prerequisites that are not included
in the total program credits. If you interested in taking courses that have additional requisites, you will need to adjust your academic
plan to incorporate these courses, or obtain permission from your instructor to waive these requirements.
