The router will allow you to connect to the internet wirelessly or through the wire The Wi-Fi SSID and password are attached to each router (check for the blue label). The Eduroam connection is available in common kitchen area. How to connect to the Caledonian Court network Enabling DHCP Please ensure you have enabled DHCP on your network adapter. This is normally the default setting. DHCP is a networking service that allows computers to download an IP (Internet Protocol) address and other configuration settings automatically when connecting to a new network. If you have any problems please check the settings below. Windows PC arrow_forward Windows 7 From the desktop click Start, the Control Panel, then select Network and Sharing Center. Click Manage Network Connections, then right-click on the network connection listed that you use to connect to the local network and Internet (titled “Local Area Connection”) and then click Properties in the drop-down menu. Scroll down the list of protocols and client applications and highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties. Select the "Obtain an IP address automatically" radio button and the "Obtain DNS server address automatically" radio button. Now click OK, and exit back to the Desktop. Windows 10 Right click on Start menu and go to Control Panel Click on Network and Internet and select Network and Sharing Center Click on Change adapter settings Right click on Wi-Fi (Laptop) or Ethernet (Desktop) and go to Properties Scroll down and double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Select "Obtain an IP address automatically" radio button and the "Obtain DNS server address automatically" radio button. Click OK Mac systems arrow_forward Click on the Apple Menu Icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Select System Preferences. Click on the Network system preference. Select the TCP/IP tab. From the Configure IPv4 menu, select "Using DHCP". Click the "Apply Now" button. Wireless Routers A wireless router has been provided in this room for use with both wireless and wired devices (PC, laptops, smart phones, tablets, etc.). The router is ready for immediate use. Please connect your device using the following guide; Connecting a wireless device to the student residence network; arrow_forward Scan for wireless networks, the Network Name (SSID) CC-ResNet will be broadcast Connect to the CC-ResNet network using the Network Key (Password) printed on the label attached to the router Connecting a wired device to the student residence network; arrow_forward Connect your device to one of the Blue LAN ports on the router using the supplied grey or white cable If the router is not fully functional please re-connect using the following guide; Connecting the wireless router to the student residence network Connect the rear Internet port to the network socket in your room using the Yellow coloured network cable supplied with the router as per the diagram below Ensure the router is connected to the mains using the power adapter and is switched on Please make sure that only the Internet (Yellow) port is connected to the network socket on the wall, otherwise the router will not work and will cause problems for other users Troubleshooting arrow_forward DHCP and DNS should always be set to automatic on the network interfaces of your device. If you have problems connecting please check these settings and ensure they are set to automatic with no static entries. If you continue to have issues please contact the IT Helpdesk on 0141 273 1234 Wi-Fi access in Raasay and Mull arrow_forward Last Year we upgraded two of the buildings (Raasay and Mull) to Meraki routers which require your eduroam login to connect to WiFi.
