Using tables from another source in assignments & class presentations Note the following information relates to tables that you are copying or adapting from another source. If you have created the table from scratch, using data you collected from various sources, please follow the format information from the APA about setting up a table. If the table is for use only in an assignment or a PowerPoint presentation, follow the advice in this section. Citing a source for a table The citation for the source of a table should be put underneath the table with the format - Note. [add explanatory notes here, if applicable - if no notes are applicable, just use the word "source" to explain what the note is noting] (author, date). Include the page number if applicable, for example an image from a book or journal article. If you have adapted the table from another source, add the word Adapted from in front of the word Source. In text citations If you are referring to the table in the text of your document, cite the Table not the reference, for example, (see Table 1). Reference list Reference the source where the table was obtained from - e.g. the book, website or journal article that the table came from. If the author is the same as the name of the web page, omit the name of the web page. Remember to follow the referencing format of the resource you are using (e.g. book, journal article etc.) or include as much information about the image as possible: Author or Creator Date (normally the date the book/journal/webpage was published) Title of the work Material type in square brackets [Table].
