Laboratory workers are employed in a diverse range of industries, including: Aeronautics Construction Education and training Environmental, water, wine and food testing Health, pathology and pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Mining Paper Professional, scientific and technical services Transportation Medical laboratory technicians perform chemical analyses of body fluids and tissues. Geological technicians (geotechnicians / geoscience technicians) analyse the chemical constituents of rock, water and soil samples. Metallurgical technicians work with ore samples to support mineral and metal processing and research. Non-destructive testing (NDT) technicians use an assortment of analytic techniques to evaluate the performance of materials and systems without damaging them. Agricultural / food science technicians are involved in the production and quality control of food products. Materials technicians, including construction materials testers, test the properties and performance of materials used in all sorts of products. Where can I study? LTT offers the MSL30118 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills at our Brisbane and Sydney training centres. The MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques is available at our Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth training centres.
