About This qualification equips students with practical skills in planning and conducting laboratory field work, recording and presenting data, performing basic tests and standard calibrations, maintaining a laboratory and more. The course focuses on safety and aims to prepare students for entry level jobs as laboratory personnel, including laboratory assistants, instrument operators, and more. Release status: Current | Delivered by: LTT Group Pty Ltd (RTO 51621) Duration, location & delivery Classes are held 2 days a week at our training centre. We're just a six minute walk from the South Brisbane train station. 28 RUSSELL STREET, SOUTH BRISBANE QLD 4101 The total course duration is 16 weeks. Class times are 8.30am-3pm on either Mondays and Tuesdays or Thursdays and Fridays (depending on intake). Classes are occasionally held on different days of the week due to public holidays. Fees Course fees depend on individual eligibility for government support. Credit transfers may reduce the course fee payable. For students eligible for government support The MSL30118 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills is partially funded by the Queensland Government for students who meet the eligibility criteria under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program. $550 - concession student co-contribution fee, payable upon enrolment $650 - non-concession student co-contribution fee, payable upon enrolment Co-contribution fees represent the total cost to the student to enrol in, undertake training, and be awarded the qualification. Fee exemptions apply for students who meet the eligibility criteria under the Free tafe for Year 12 graduates program. This course may exhaust your entitlement to further Queensland Government subsidised training, so please consider your training options carefully. See the Certificate 3 Guarantee Student Fact Sheet View Year 12 graduate fee-free training eligibility criteria For students not eligible for government support $4,600 - fee for service student tuition fee To secure your place in class, a $300 deposit is payable upon enrolment (cash and EFT facilities are available). This amount is deducted from the total course fee. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly direct debit payment plans are available to distribute payments of the remaining balance ($4,300) over the 16 week period. Assessment Students are assessed on their performance in practical and written assessments. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit transfer processes are available. Please contact our team on 1300 588 588 to discuss these options further if you believe you may be eligible for RPL or credit transfer (for equivalent units of competency completed previously). A copy of the original transcript must be provided if applying for a credit transfer. Should you withdraw before completing the course and / or your clinical work placement hours, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for any units of competency achieved. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the MSL30118 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills, which will carry the Nationally Recognised Training logo. Requirements Please note: All students must comply with any relevant state government regulations regarding COVID-19 vaccinations that are applicable during their training. No prior qualifications are required to study the MSL30118 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills. While there are no formal entry requirements for the course, a general interest in mathematics and chemistry is recommended, and basic computer literacy is advantageous. On the basis of industry recommendation, and to improve employment prospects, students must be at least 17 years old to undertake the qualification. As part of the enrolment process, a comprehensive pre-training review is conducted to capture current competencies (including language, literacy and numeracy). This process also aids in identifying individual learning styles and any support services that may be required so that training delivery can be tailored accordingly. Students are required to wear closed-in shoes throughout the course, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed during lab work. International students, please note that we are not registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
