1/2 Java

1/2 Java love working with technology. We look forward to going to the computer lab every Thursday, where we have been exploring the features of KidPix in Term 1 and Microsoft Word in Term 2. We have been using these programs for word processing and to create pictures. We also enjoy having the iPads in our classroom. There are lots of great reading, speaking, spelling and Maths' apps to help us with our learning.

Each day we stop and play our DEAC games to help us with our number skills. Addition Path is one of the games we enjoy playing.

On Maths Open Day we played ‘Bump' with our parents, which is one of our favourite DEAC games.

1/2  Java have enjoyed having Mr Lodge in our classroom every Wednesday for the last ten weeks. Mr Lodge is a student from Charles Sturt University and has helped us with lots of activities in our room, including reading groups.

What a busy start to the term we've had in 1/2 Java. We look forward to Tuesdays where we are developing our movement skills in gymnastics. Jumping, landing, rolling, twisting, balancing and swinging are just some of the activities we participate in. We are also practising our fundamental movement skills on Mondays with Mrs Stevens, which include galloping, skipping and sprinting. Scripture has also started on Tuesdays this term. We enjoy seeing Mrs Hudson and listening to her stories. We have also enjoyed the special days we have had so far, including Clean Up Australia Day and Water Day, and we are looking forward to the Easter Hat Parade in Week 11. One of our favourite times of the day is when we play our DEAC games. These games are fun as well as helping us improve our numeracy skills. Our author study for the term is Margaret Wild. She has written lots of great stories which we love reading, but our favourites are ‘Chatterbox' and ‘The Pocket Dogs'.
