Jinghua obtained a 1st Class Honour Degree in BEng Mechanical Engineering in 2012, MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering in 2013, both from the University of Bristol. He obtained his PhD in 2018 from the University of Southampton, focusing on biomechanical analysis of lower limb amputee socket interface. His research has won the Advancing Technology Prize in ISPO World Congress 2017 and IMechE Healthcare Technology Early Career Award (DePuy Prize for best medical engineering Postgraduate project ) in 2019.
