Write-N-Cite is an 'add-in' tool for Microsoft Word which enables you to cite references from RefWorks directly into your document as you write it. You can use your chosen referencing style and easily create your bibliography. How do I access Write-N-Cite? WNC needs to be downloaded as an add-in to Microsoft Word. Please refer to the Mini Guide or other instructions for the version of WNC that you wish to use. This will tell you how to login once you have installed the add-in. Using WNC on your own device (staff and students) Logon to the University Portal and access RefWorks. Click on the Tools menu in RefWorks and select the appropriate version to download. During the installation there may be problems saving a .msi file to your C: drive. If this happens choose to save the .msi file to your Desktop. After installation open Word - before you first login to WNC the RefWorks tab may temporarily be labelled 'Proquest'. Using WNC on a staff PC in the University Download WNC4 or WNC3 from Run Advertised Programmes (available on the Start menu of your PC). After installation open Word - before you first login to WNC the RefWorks tab may temporarily be labelled 'Proquest'. Using WNC on a student PC in the Library or Labs WNC 4 is available on all student PCs in the University. You need to get a login code from RefWorks - Tools - Write-N-Cite each time you use it. Similarly you need to update Java on your Mac if the WNC toolbar is missing. See the Check Computer Updates document below. On staff computers in the University Java is available from 'Run Advertised Programmes' and is called 'Sun Java'. Citations are automatically formatted in your selected style. You can add a bibliography to a document at any time. Your bibliography will automatically update as you add further citations.
