The following advice applies to students located onshore in Australia. If you are an offshore student, please refer to any specific advice given to you by the University. Desktop computers on campus ICT’s desktops come equipped with a range of common apps. EndNote Google Chrome Microsoft Office Mozilla Firefox You can access further apps on our desktops through the Citrix Workspace app. This includes: ANSYS MATLAB Microsoft Visio Microsoft Visual Studio NVivo  R-Project SAS SPSS Statistics Stata (only available in certain locations) On your own device Apps to download We provide a range of apps that can be downloaded for your personal device. Many can be downloaded and used offline. Notices View all notices ArcGIS ArcGIS is a geographic information system that lets you work with maps and geographic information. You will need a student authorisation code provided by your course coordinator or lecturer. Contact the Service Desk to arrange a code if you have not been given one. ArcGIS is available on Windows only. Product information | Download ArcGIS for students Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) CSD is a database used by the School of Chemistry that allows you to discover knowledge contained within over 650,000 crystal structures. You will need to accept the CSD System Use Agreement while connected to the UniSydney network. CSD is available on Windows and Mac OS X. Product information | Download Cambridge Structural Database Dropbox Dropbox lets you store your files in the cloud and access them from any browser or device with the Dropbox app installed. Your University Dropbox account comes with 15GB and collaboration apps like Paper and Showcase. Signing up is an easy three-step process: Visit the portal and enrol with your UniKey Check your student inbox for an invitation from Dropbox Follow the invitation instructions to finalise your activation Your account is valid for the duration of your degree. Product information | Get your University Dropbox account Echo360 Echo360 is a video capture and streaming service primarily used to record lectures and other live events for later access. The Echo360 app gives you the flexibility and convenience of watching lectures on your own device. You can even download lecture recordings using the University wi-fi and then watch these offline when commuting.  To download Echo360 app: go to your unit of study website in your Learning Management System (Canvas) and select ‘Recorded Lectures’ (2019 Recordings for Compass users), in the left-hand navigation menu. download the Echo360 app to your smartphone follow the prompts and enter your University of Sydney email address, followed by your UniKey. If downloading the app on a tablet browser, see these instructions for iPad setup. Product information EndNote EndNote is a research tool that allows you to organise, publish and share your references and bibliographies. You can get training through our libraries. EndNote is available on Windows and Mac OS X. Product information | Download EndNote and resources from Libraries GenStat GenStat is a statistical package and data analysis tool. To use GenStat, you need to be connected to the University’s network or via a VPN connection. GenStat is available on Windows only. Product information | Download GenStat LinkedIn Learning LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform that provides University of Sydney students with access to foundation courses that support your University study. Sign in to LinkedIn Learning using your UniKey credentials or follow these login instructions. MATLAB MATLAB helps you with numerical computation, visualisation and programming. With MATLAB you can analyse data, develop algorithms and create models. MATLAB is available on Windows and Mac OS X. Product information | Download MATLAB Mathematica Mathematica is a computational environment used in many scientific, engineering, mathematical and computing fields. Mathematica is available on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Product information | Download Mathematica Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching All students and teaching staff at the University of Sydney may download and install copies of various Microsoft products via the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching portal. There are 140 different Microsoft products available including: Microsoft Project SQL Server Visual Studio Visio Windows 10 Windows Server 2019 Follow the easy steps to access these products: Go to Azure Dev Tools.  Sign in or enrol with your University email address. Do not use a personal email account. Agree to the terms and conditions and step through the Microsoft authentication process. Use the menu to navigate through to available software and resources. Microsoft Office 365 You can access the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus subscription on up to five of your devices. This gives you access to the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Your Office 365 software will remain activated as long as you are enrolled at the University and connect to the internet at least once every 30 days. To get Office: visit the Microsoft Online Portal, enter your student email address and password, then select work or school account you will be redirected to the Office 365 page. Select ‘Install’ to download the client open the client and follow the instructions. Office 365 is available on Windows and Mac OS. Product information | Download Office 365 Microsoft OneDrive OneDrive for Business is a place where you can store, sync and share your files. It lets you update and share your files from anywhere and collaborate on documents at the same time as other students. NVivo NVivo enables you to handle rich text based information. It automates many manual tasks associated with analysis, such as data classification and sorting. It is available on Windows and Mac OS X. Product information | Download NVivo Reference Manager Reference Manager is used for publishing and managing bibliographies. It is available on Windows only. Product information | Download Reference Manager RStudio RStudio is an integrated development environment (IDE) for R. It includes a console, syntax-highlighting editor that supports direct code execution, as well as tools for plotting, history, debugging and workspace management.  R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. The S language is often the vehicle of choice for research in statistical methodology, and R provides an Open Source route to participation in that activity. To use RStudio, R must be installed. Product information | Download R and RStudio SAS SAS is a statistical software that allows you to perform data management, visualisation and prediction. You will need to accept the SAS Student Use Agreement online to obtain a copy of SAS. SAS is available on Windows and Linux. Product information | Download SAS StarOffice StarOffice offers word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing and database editing. StarOffice is available on Windows and Linux. Product information | Download StarOffice Sydney Uni App The Sydney Uni app offers a wide range of tools and services to help enhance your University experience. Through the app you can access your class timetable and wayfinding campus maps that can direct you straight to your classroom. You can also book a study space, a GP or library appointment, find food outlets, and even view the Student Centre queue. You can download or update the Sydney Uni app now on Android or iOS. Help us to keep improving this app, click on the account button on the top left corner of the app and select ‘Give us feedback’. Keep an eye out for new features throughout the year. Zoom Meetings You have access to University Zoom accounts, which can be used to host online meetings from desktops, tablets and phones. Start using your Zoom account by installing it on your devices and logging in with your student email address. Product information | Download Zoom for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android | How to log in Streamed apps An alternative to installing apps on your computer is the UniConnect Cloud portal. Through an online connection you can run specialist apps from your device both on and off campus.  Here is a list of software available through UniConnect Cloud.  You will need to download the Citrix Workspace app and have a reliable internet connection to access the apps. Be aware that files on the “remote session” are not saved. To save files created using these apps, you'll need to save them to your device (eg. USB drive). Download the Citrix Workspace app Windows and Mac OS-X Citrix Workspace app is available on Windows 7 and 10 Download and install the Citrix Workspace app for Windows or Mac OS X. A list of available apps will appear, which you can then open. iPads and Android tablets 1. Download the Citrix Workspace app from your device’s app store. 2.
