During this time, the course has introduced over 1000 general practitioners as well as specialist clinicians to implant dentistry. The course is now structured to introduce the clinician to the surgical and prosthodontic aspects of implant therapy through lectures, demonstrations and hands-on workshops. The focus will be on the surgical and prosthodontic management of healed single tooth sites. Under supervision by highly experienced implant surgeons and restorative clinicians/prosthodontists, participants will place and restore implants in soft tissue bone models in a simulated clinical environment with manikins using the full range of implant equipment and instrumentation. It will give the clinician an insight into the surgical and restorative requirements and difficulties in each field. This better understanding serves to promote improved coordination and respect between the various team members leading ultimately to a more predictable clinical outcome. The course has been convened by A/Prof Richard Chan since 1994 and he is joined by three specialists, Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon Dr Lydia Lim and Prosthodontists, Dr Michael Chang and Dr David Sykes, and ceramist Mr Chris Xeras.  The implant equipment and materials support by Nobel Biocare is gratefully acknowledged. You may wish to consider bringing a clinical staff with you. The staff members attend all 3 days so they understand what happens at every stage of the treatment (except they only observe the hands on sessions. They would be seated next to their dentists so they learn the whole process together as a team). If you wish to consider this, please contact the CPD team. Please note: Due to the ongoing COVID situation, we have decided to postpone the course this year. See below for the new scheduled date for 2022.
