JNI offers courses covering three main specialist areas: counselling, psychotherapy, and community services. These courses range from Masters level through to Bachelor, Diploma and short courses.JNI students gain practical and industry-relevant experience through our on-campus community clinic, where their applied learning is supervised by expert counsellors. JNI’s The Wellbeing Clinic at Pyrmont campus is open to the public and specialises in a wide range of issues including stress, confl ict, work/life balance, relationships and self-esteem. Students are able to explore new aspects of human relationships while experiencing the rich counselling tradition that runs through JNI. Careers pursued by graduates include addiction counselling, youth work, women’s health, family services, ageing and retirement, change management, confl ict resolution and mediation, child protection, community counselling agencies, disability services and human resources. Situated in a premium location close to Sydney’s Darling Harbour, JNI is close to public transport, shops and local attractions. Many JNI courses may also be studied through our Flexible and Online Learning system, allowing students to design a study program to fi t their lifestyle. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS For admission to a postgraduate coursework program you are normally expected to have a Bachelor degree or three-year Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution in an appropriate discipline. You may also need relevant professional work experience. In exceptional cases an applicant may be admitted as a candidate for a specifi c course if the applicant submits other evidence of academic and/or professional experience. Overseas qualifi cations and English profi ciency If you hold overseas qualifi cations from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language profi ciency. Library and computing services The JNI Library offers a large collection of specialised textbooks (including e-books) and videos. There is a small computer lab available for student use, along with high-speed internet access and free wi-fi . The library also offers training workshops in information gathering, along with a large range of relevant databases that can be used in the library or in the student’s home through the learning portal. The JNI online catalogue is available through the learning portal, along with lists of books and instructional videos. Learning assistance All JNI students have access to Think: CLASS (Centre for Learning and Academic Skills Support). Think: CLASS provides students with a diverse range of support and academic skills services, including training in time management, teamwork, report writing, presentations, referencing, computer literacy, proofreading and editing. Orientation Orientation is normally held for all new students the week prior to classes starting for all programs. At orientation students will be able to meet JNI academic and student support staff and receive information about Institute policies, procedures and facilities. It is a valuable introduction to the Institute, which is designed to ensure that JNI students have a successful study experience. Transport JNI is a 10–15 minute walk Town Hall station along picturesque Darling Harbour, or 15–20 minute walk from Central Station. Paid parking is available close the campus.
