Whether you are coming from afar or already live locally and want to experience living with other students, there are lots of options for accommodation in Weston. UCW works with two accommodation providers who offer accommodation options for our students. These are Parkside House and Skylight Property. We have a long-standing relationship with both providers and work hard to ensure that students are supported by HEART regardless of their accommodation choice. HEART support students living in both the Parkside and Skylight accommodation and hold regular house meetings and arranges social events for these students.  We understand that moving away from home can be quite stressful; and HEART will try to help reduce this stress! Please click on the links to explore the accommodation options offered by our partners. The properties featured on this page are not owned or managed by the Weston College Group. UCW will endeavour to offer student accommodation to all full-time applicants for their first year of study, provided that they accept our offer, requires the accommodation for a full letting period and pays the deposit. UCW can also support second- and third-year students with their accommodation options should they require it. Click Here for More Info Skylight Property Skylight offers three different properties to choose from; all are based in the centre of Weston-super-Mare and offer a range of room options – from singles to doubles to ensuites. The properties they offer, and the room options are detailed below. All Skylight properties has a rental period of 48 weeks of the year, starting from September and running through to mid-August. ▸How To Apply With these Skylight Properties, some options are more popular than others, so we encourage students to apply early.  Accommodation is usually allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, although applications from those who are new to the area or who pick UCW as their ‘firm’ choice via UCAS will be prioritised. If you would like to choose one of the Skylight properties as your accommodation choice, please complete this form to reserve your room.  We will then be in touch regarding your next steps.  Skylight will require a deposit to reserve your room, and this will need to be paid ahead of you moving in (usually by the end of August). Those students who withdraw from their course less than two weeks before the start of term will lose their deposit. ▸Conditions of Offers Applications for Skylight Property student accommodation are generally processed in the order that they are received. Completing the booking form and providing the deposit early may therefore help an applicant secure their preferred accommodation. Allocation of preferred choices cannot be guaranteed. UCW and Skylight Property also reserve a limited number of places to be allocated at its discretion. UCW reserves the right to withdraw an offer of accommodation if the applicant fails to meet admission requirements or if a programme is withdrawn UCW is unable to provide accommodation for students’ partners, their families or other dependents, or for students at associated institutions. However, Skylight Property may be able to help in this situation. UCW has absolute discretion to make the final decision about which accommodation will be offered to which student. This will be sent to you in advance as it is legally binding and sets out the terms and conditions of your residency. Please read the contract thoroughly before signing it so that you are clear in what is expected of you and what you can expect from your landlord. The following, while not being exhaustive, is intended as an overview of some of the main points of a standard tenancy agreement – we have made some key point for you to consider: • The contract runs for either 48 or 52 weeks, including the Christmas and Easter breaks. Please do make sure you are clear on how many weeks you will be living in your chosen property. • Those who leave their accommodation before the end of the contracted period are still liable to pay rent until a replacement tenant has signed a contract for the room. • For example, if you withdraw or suspend your studies you will have to pay rent – unless someone else wants to move into your room and take on the tenancy. • Guests are not permitted to stay at the accommodation without the permission of the landlord. Requests must be put in writing with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. Do please contact the warden at Parkside or Skylight directly if you want to have a guest to stay – this is so they know who is in the building in an emergency! • Tenants are responsible for ensuring their own room and communal areas are kept tidy and that rubbish and recycling are put out on the appropriate days. This is really important as your deposit may be affected! • Tenants will need to provide a guarantor when signing their contract, which will usually be their parent/guardian. • This is standard practice for all tenancy agreements – if you are struggling with a guarantor please do contact HEART. Parkside House When you join the Parkside community you will live, work, and play in a well-managed building designed to accommodate over 100 students with a secure keyless entry system throughout the building, CCTV, and a residential warden. The Parkside Dance Studio is in the building and there is an on-line booking system for residents to use the studio and the gym if they are not being used for teaching.  A pool table is in the Communal area downstairs which is proving to be a popular place to make friends! The Parkside community live in apartments in groups of 5, 6 and 7 students.  There are also 3-, 2- and 1-bedroom flats, studios and 2 fully accessible studios.  All shared apartments and flats have ensuite facilities and all bedroom doors have keyless locks. Parkside has been designed to support the needs of students with disabilities and learning differences, with some rooms having adjustable lighting levels, neutral colour schemes and blackout blinds to create a low stimulus home.  At Parkside House prices start at £130 per week inclusive of WiFi, electric, water and heat for a room in a shared apartment for 52 weeks starting in September.
