Resume - Adrian Ratter Educational History 2011 – Present Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science – University of NSW Researching indoor position tracking, map generation and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) for mobile robots with low computing power. I focus on designing efficient mapping algorithms for CPUs and GPUs (using C++ and OpenCL). My current work involves fusing a large scale map and 6DOF position tracking using Laser Rangefinder and RGB-D data (from a Microsoft Kinect) in real time using only an integrated Intel CPU/GPU Processor. 2006 – 2010 Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Science Majoring in Computer Science – University of NSW Graduated with University Medal and First Class Honours. Weighted Average Mark over degree of 92.025. CISRA Project Prize in 2010 for the best demonstration of a well- developed, original Computer Engineering project that has clear commercial or industrial potential. This was awarded for my undergraduate thesis on the Automatic Synthesis of Device Drivers. High Distinctions in all UNSW Operating Systems courses, including Advanced Operating Systems, where we were required to write an entire operating system in 12 weeks. This included designing components for multi-threading, demand paging and a file system. Member of the UNSW RoboCup Standard Platform League Team in 2010 in Singapore, where the team placed 2nd in the world. I was responsible for writing the entire visual processing system. Recipient of the IET Student Prize in 2010 for outstanding achievements as an engineering student. Recipient of the Engineers Australia Electrical and ITEE Branch award in 2010 for the top 2010 final year student. Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Award in 2006 - 2009. Placed first in NSW in the ACM Programming Contest 2008. Recipient of the Sensory Networks Algorithms and Programming Technology Prize in 2009.
