This page describes some of the key issues regarding getting access and login into to Sciquest-ERM.

1. How to get access to Sciquest-ERM. 

• At the moment the normal procedure to get access to Sciquest-ERM involves the following steps:
• Register via myUNSW for Sciquest training course:  Login to myUNSW, go to staff/student profile, select training, select OHS for staff and students, select Sciquest and then enrol in the next available course that fits you.
• Attend the training course. Currently they are in the AGSM and take about 2 hours.
• Soon after completing your training course you should get access. Contact your School Sciquest-ERM admin person if you haven't bee added within 7 days.
• In exceptional circumstances can be given access prior to attending a training course. You need to discuss this with your School Sciquest-ERM admin person (you still need to do the training course).
• Lower-campus (chemstore) users may be added to the system without getting training but they will only get very limited access.

Sciquest-ERM admin team in the School of Chemistry: During the roll-out phase several people are involved. You can approach anyone of them with any issue you have although they do have some specialisation when it comes to issues:

• (user access issues within the School, financial account settings, level of access, including adding "buyers")
• (adding new sublocations, suppliers, general issues regarding loading your lab on Sciquest-ERM)
• (organising barcode scanners, organising lab for transfer from COSI to Sciquest-ERM, anything to do with the Chemstore on Sciquest-ERM)
• (external ordering via Sciquest-ERM both hosted catalogues and Spotbuy, (EHS) safety approvals).

 

2. How to configure your computer/browser/java and related issues.

Sciquest-ERM will run on all PC's and MAC's provided you got a recent version of Java (7.45 or later) and a compatable browser installed. Firefox, Chrome and IE are all offically supported browser. Safari appears to work if it has been updated to version 6 or later.

Sciquest-ERM is not supported to work on iPad or Android tables - this is basically because neither iPad's or Android devices generally don't support Java.

The main issue users may have is therefore updating their Java if it is out of date or installing if they don't have one. If your Java is not correctly configured or missing, you will not see anything happen apart from a greeting screen when you go to the Sciquest . If it is working, you will soon see a progress bar (10%...20%...) and the program starts within 10-30 sec. In Firefox (and maybe other browser) you may also have to activate your Java plug in once you install it.

If you Java is out of date or missing, go to the . Follow the instructions - in most cases they are very straightforward and you don't have to do anything else than they say. If you do run into problems you might need seek help from IT personell.

 

3. About different access level:

One thing you need to note is that different users will have different access. Briefly the main ones are (subject to future changes):

• Chemstore buyer = Very limited, can only search and buy from the store
• Scientist I (search) = Most common access level = You search labs and catalogues for things and create new containers. You can order from the store (when it gets activated). You can't do external orders and you can't create new materials.
• Scientist II (serach and buy) = Same as Scientist I + you can do external orders and create new materials.
• School admin = Create accounts (cost centres), organisations, assign people to roles, organisations and the like, deactive people when they leave. 
• Superadmin = Things like creating sublocations, room, buildings and suppliers.

 

4. Some important configurations you should check when start using Sciquest-ERM

We strongly recommend you make the following changes to your "preferences" when you log in. You only need to do this once.

Go to your "preferences" by going to "File" and select the "preferences" option (See A below). On the first tab ("User") make sure "Receive standard emails" is ticked so you get notification when orders arrive in the store. We recommend also you select "Search all sites/Display all" sites at the bottom of this tab.

Go then to the third tab as per C) below ("Structure Search") and ensure you select "Embedded Structure drawing tool" so your structure drawing tool in Sciquest will work"
