If your circumstances have jeopardised your ability to submit a piece of assessment on time, you are eligible to apply for an extension, including where: You are isolating from the effects of COVID-19 or are isolating due to being a close household contact of a positive case of COVID-19. You are impacted by the effects from severe weather events (i.e., flooding). Acceptable supporting evidence: Provide a personal statement of circumstances to be signed by the student; or Provide documentation demonstrating a positive COVID test result; or Provide details of flood impacted address or insurance claim. Documentation must include relevant information relating to the affected assessment (e.g., course name, due date of assessment, isolation dates). Overview Acceptable reasons for an extension How to apply 1. Overview Don't leave assignment writing until the last minute. We encourage you to plan your workload so you can meet assessment deadlines. We realise, however, that on occasion there may be exceptional circumstances beyond your control that prevent you from submitting an assessment item by the due date and time.  In these circumstances, you can apply for an extension. Extensions can be requested for assessment items such as: essays assignments case studies laboratory reports take-home exams tutorial group assignments, and in some cases oral assessment. You can't request extensions for: in-class tests mid-semester examinations end-of-semester examinations deferred or supplementary examinations. If you have been ill or unable to attend class for more than 14 days, we advise you to carefully consider whether you are capable of successfully completing your courses this semester. You might be eligible to withdraw without academic penalty.
