The midterm examination is scheduled for September 15, 2011, 1-1.50 pm. It will comprise fifteen multiple choice questions. For each question, select the best answer from the choices available.
Venue
The test will be conducted in two lecture theatres:
- Woolnough LTwill house students whose surnames start with A-MI inclusive;
- Engineering LT 2 in the Civil and Mechanical Building G.04 (Entrance near James Oval) will house students whose surnames start after MI.
These venues are notideal and you will be sitting close to each other. Accordinglythe test papers will be constructed so that you will all be presentedwith the same questions but they may appear in a different order ondifferent papers. In addition, the multiple choices for each question mayalso be presented in a different order. So... if the person next toyou has very different answers to you don't panic!
Important: - You will get 50 minutes to complete the test. Please arrive early so that all of you can be seated before the test starts. We will collect all answerscripts at 1:50 pm sharp as there are other lectures scheduled in these venues. You will not get any extra time if you arrive late.
- You must use pencils to answer the questions. You will be provided with a question paper and an answer sheet like . You must fill in your student number correctly, otherwise you may not get any mark.
- You should fill in answers for questions 1-15 in the answer sheet.
- You should hand over only the (one page) answer sheet. You should not return the question paper.

Lecture Material
Anything covered in the lectures. In particular, the notes handed out define the bulk of the course content. However, anything that is discussed verbally in the lectures is also deemed to be part of the course. If you have missed any lectures, then they have all been audio recorded and are available via streaming audio.

Laboratory Work
Anything covered in any of the laboratory sessions, excluding the parts labelled as optional hot sections. The midterm will particularly test the lab sessions that have not already been assessed.
