Lecturer & Lab Demonstrator
Assoc Professor David Glance
Getting started
The project is to be undertaken in groups of at most five (5) people. You are free to choose your own teams. You can choose smaller teams if you wish, but the marking expectations and scheme will be the same for all project submissions. During the laboratory sessions of the last week of semester each group will demonstrate their systems for assessment. It is strongly recommended that you quickly form yourselves in to your groups and determine times when you can ALL regularly meet. I would suggest meeting several times a week, and each meeting should be for at least one (1) hour.
There are several tasks that need to be undertaken with each of you fulfilling several roles. To some extent everybody must participate in all tasks, though it is possible that there will be specialisation. The roles include
- Leader: where you may decide on a single person, or to share leadership. However one person will be responsible for submission on the cssubmit system.
- Communicator: that person who ensures everybody knows what is going on, what they need to bring to a meeting, when and where the meeting is to be held. They will need to minute meetings, documenting what actions need to be undertaken, who is responsible for that action, when it is due to be completed.
- Documentor: person(s) who will produce the documents that are required for submission.
- Requirements team: who will establish the required system functionality and data model. An ERD will be generated by this group
- Design team: who will establish the draft database schema and undertake its refinement and implementation
- Implementation team: who will build the system functionality and procedures, triggers, assertions etc to ensure system integrity.
- Coding team: who will build application programs to enable full system functionality.
Registering your teams
Register your team using the before the deadline. The first person of the registrated group will take the leadship role, at least, this should be theperson responsible for cssubmit submission. I will look for submissions from the first person of the groups, other submissions will be considered as duplicates and ignored.
