Our 3-year bachelor’s degrees consist of 24 units. These units are grouped as majors, extended majors and minors, which will be named on your degree certificate. You can fill the rest of your degree with other units of your choice. Majors We offer a wide range of majors and extended majors within our bachelor’s degrees. One major requires 8-12 units over the course of your bachelor's degree so, in most cases, you can choose to study two majors. Extended majors enable you to dive deeper into a particular area of study and normally require 13 to 18 units studied over the course of your degree. You’ll need to choose your major(s) when you enrol but if you’d like to change during your degree you can. Minors These are sequences of four related units that allow you to gain skills and knowledge in a specialised area that may complement your major(s), suit your career goals or simply be of personal interest.   Additional units Foundational unit Your course may include up to four units that give you broad grounding and key skills in your chosen degree area, irrespective of your choice of major(s). For example, the Bachelor of Commerce requires foundational units to develop your knowledge across different areas of business, in addition to your major(s). Bridging unit If you don’t have the required subject at ATAR level or equivalent for your chosen major, you can take these additional units in your first year. Elective unit Depending on your choice of majors and minors, you may have space for elective units. You can choose (almost!) anything you like to expand your knowledge in a new field, provided you meet the unit rules. Elective units provide you with the opportunity to explore a range of interests and new disciplines. If you structure your degree with one degree-specific major, there is potential for up to 16 electives. If you decide to study two majors, there is still room for variety beyond your majors.
