The Traffic Operations and Safety (TOPS) Lab is part of CEE and, is a comprehensive state-of-the-art program spanning many elements of transportation research and development. The TOPS Lab is the focal point for traffic operations and safety research at UW-Madison. Anticipated Start Date: 06/01/2022 Anticipated End Date (If Applicable): N/A Remote Work Eligibility Detail: Remote work is an option for this position with occasional in-office meetings. Full in-office is also an option. It may be necessary to work remotely if the UW COVID response requires students and staff to not come into the office. Anticipated Hours Per Week: 10-15 hours per week Schedule: Flexible Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: $12-15/hour Number of Positions: 1 Qualifications: UW Student Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Required: Knowledge of Java Desire for learning new things Preferred applicants will also have: Experience with Spring Framework Experience with public facing websites Position Summary/Job Duties: TOPS Lab is looking for a student with experience in the Java programming language to work on the development of upcoming projects. This position will be focused on using Spring Framework, a Java based web framework, to assist a small team in creating applications that will be used by other universities and government agencies. This student will work closely with the project leader and may be required to present their progress in small meetings to project partners. This position will require the student to be able to balance work with school and be able to prioritize tasks.
