Student vLab FAQ STUDENT VLAB FAQ 1. What is vLab? A. Virtual desktop for students. 2. What lab locations can I access vLab? A. CCEN 202, CCEN 216, CCEN 295, Tech 286, MBSS 106, ACAD 210, TAZE 032, Greene 408 3. Who can log on to vLab? A. All current (active) students can log on to vLab from any of the lab locations. 4. Can a faculty member log on to vLab? A. Yes, a faculty member can request for a generic student account for vLab testing. 5. What applications are available on vLab? A. Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) OneNote, LockDown Browser, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Rosetta Stone, and Adobe Reader. 6. Can I log onto eLearn from vLab? A. Yes. 7. I am prompted to update Java. What do I do? A. Ignore the prompt and do not update. 8. How do I log on to vLab? A. Type student network username into the “Username” text box, type password into the “Password” text box, and confirm that the “Domain:” box reads “Student” Page 1 Student vLab FAQ 9. How do I log off of vLab? A. With the mouse left click the start button and left click the “Log off” button. B. At the vLab menu left click the “Log off” button at the upper right corner (ignore Reconnect and Disconnect options) 10. How does a student save files and information from within vLab? A. A USB thumb drive or third party hosted data storage website. B. Insert USB thumb drive into thin client USB Port. 11. Can a student save files on vLab long enough to submit to eLearn dropbox? A. Yes. Files can be saved and accessed only during the current session of vLab. 12. Can a student log on to vLab and open files saved during a previous session? A. No. All files saved by the student will be deleted upon logging off of vLab. 13. How does a student access their inserted USB thumb drive? A. By opening the “Windows Explorer folder” or by double left clicking the “Computer” icon located on the desktop. 14. Can a student use an encrypted USB thumb drive with vLab? A. No. 15. How does a student print from vLab? A. The same procedure used on a normal computer desktop or laptop. 16. Can a faculty member log onto vLab for students, who are experiencing logon problems, with a generic account? A. Yes. Please refer to the Walters State vLab Login Information for Guests card located in the lab locations or by contacting the Helpdesk at Ext: 2742. 17. What do I do if I receive a “Citrix Receiver – Security Warning” prompt? A. Left click the box beside of the text “Do not ask me again for this site.” B. Left click the “Permit Use” option 18. What do I do if I receive an “Add Account (Citrix Receiver)” pop up asking for email address or server address? A. Left click “Cancel” then choose a browser of your choice. B.
